NWA Housing Report

Choosing where to live is one of your most important life decisions.
Where you live matters to your quality of life:

  • Commute time to work
  • Access to public transportation
  • Convenience of shopping and services
  • Neighborhood schools and family activities
  • Community amenities, like parks, swimming pools, bike trails and sports fields
  • Monthly expenses and financial security

The Northwest Arkansas region is growing, with new residents arriving every day to fill local jobs and contribute to the regional economy. Developing a regional housing approach is critical to ensuring that communities in Northwest Arkansas increase access to opportunity through housing investments and related policies.

Creating great neighborhoods with high-quality housing creates pathways to opportunity for everyone.

With support from the Walton Family Foundation, Enterprise produced this report and its call to action in partnership with an advisory board of diverse stakeholders—across the public, private and nonprofit sectors—that helped guide and inform this important work.  The Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission and the Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Arkansas also provided critical collaboration. The planning commission led logistics for community engagement activities, including focus groups, public meetings and other outreach. It also was the primary liaison to the housing committee. The Center for Business and Economic Research provided market data, as well as regional context about market dynamics.

The Walton Family Foundation has released a housing report that can be found at: https://www.waltonfamilyfoundation.org/learning/our-housing-future
